Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has introduced the new OBD2-compliant 2023 Activa 125, which starts at Rs 78,920. This comes along with a new H-SMART model, which costs Rs 88,093. (ex-showroom). With this, the new Activa 125 H-Smart, which is now OBD2-A compliant, comes nearly on par with Honda’s most expensive scooter in India, which is the Grazia 125 disc brake variant.

The Activa 125 H-Smart has the same design and styling as the standard model. The only noticeable visual difference is a discrete H-Smart decal on its side panels. It has identical dimensions and weighs 109 kg. However, the Activa 125 H-Smart’s standout feature is its “Smart” electronic key fob, which offers four convenient features, including Smart Unlock, Smart Start, Smart Safe, and SmartFind.

The Smart Unlock system works similarly to keyless entry in that a rider must approach the scooter within a two-meter radius to unlock the seat and fuel tank without the use of a key. Furthermore, the Smart Start feature allows the rider to start the scooter without a key by using the rotary dial for ignition and the start/stop switch on the handlebar. Furthermore, the Smart Safe function automatically locks the scooter when the rider walks outside of a two-meter radius, and the Smart Find feature allows the rider to flash the scooter’s blinkers from up to ten metres away by pressing a button on the key fob.

The Activa 125 H-Smart’s part-digital instrument cluster now shows real-time fuel efficiency, average fuel efficiency, and a distance-to-empty indicator. The scooter’s powertrain remains intact, with the 124 cc single-cylinder engine producing a maximum of 8.3 horsepower and 10.4 Nm of torque. The Activa H-Smart has a 190 mm disc brake up front and a 130 mm drum brake in the rear, depending on the disc type.

Prices for other Activa 125 variants have risen due to the update to meet OBD-2A standards, with the base Activa 125 now starting at Rs 78,920. Honda debuted H-Smart technology on the Activa 110 in January, and it is expected to appear on the Grazia 125 soon.
